Cassie Harris - Artist in Focus @GhoulishFX

25 September 2017

Cassie has evolved from face-painting to movie quality special effects. Her instagram page is @GhoulishFX. That's the start of Cassie's story, but what's mine? I was doing a portrait shoot for a special friend, and as it so happened I booked the make up person for the wrong day. On a Friday night at 10.30pm I was on FB trying to secure another make up artist for the next morning. Cassie came to the rescue (on FB) and recommended Beauty by Georgia, and fortunately Georgia was available. Lucky me. A month or so later I was asked to photograph the Townsville Fashion festival and I ran into "Cassie" doing body painting.

We finally met person to person. Cassie and Georgia seem to have been collaborating together for some time, I was fortunate to secure both of them and their talents on the 80's shoot. I have read about Cassie in the Huxley Press (@huxley.press) been amazed at the painted 2D images by both Martin Saxon and Scott Blanch, two Townsville Photographers and what knocked me out was the image of Ken Wallace painted by Cassie (full scene - check out her insta). So this week, I'm asked if I'm free to photograph "The Painted Lady - aka Georgia O'Gorman" as they are just having some fun. Hell "Yesssssssss". and now you see in my gallery the results. Cassie has agreed to two further collaborations. One she has arranged and the third an idea I like with a twist. In the meantime as I am writing this post, another creation shows up on FB and her instagram "Poison Ivy" photographed by Gary Griffin. Does she ever stop? Simple answer NO - true creatives never stop. So stay tuned to either my web or follow @GhoulishFX and join her journey. My Gallery provides series 1 and the title of series 2 and you will need to come back to see series 3. One day I hope we see images of every artistic expression documented by multiple photographers exhibited in one gallery- imagine what it would be like. Thank you Cassie (and Georgia) for including me into your artistic world.
